Terms of use

g-sho is a free Japanese dictionary, made by one person as a hobby. These are the terms for using it, in plain words.

Your data

We have no interest in your data. We don't sell it, share it, show you ads or track you. What we keep, and why, is in the privacy page.

When you sign in with Google, GitHub or LINE, we don't ask for your email address or any other way to contact you. We get an ID and your name there, and nothing else. With a passkey, we get even less. So we can't email you, and we won't.

You can download everything stored for your account, or delete the account, in Settings → Account.

No promises

g-sho is offered as it is, without any warranty. It may have mistakes, including in the dictionary. It may be down, change, or lose data. Keep your own copy of anything that matters to you (Download my data is in Settings → Account).

We may stop running g-sho, or stop accounts and syncing, at any time, especially if people abuse it and it becomes a burden to run. If that happens, we'll try to give notice on the site first so you can download your data, but we can't promise that.

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss or damage from using g-sho, or from not being able to use it.

Please don't

We may remove accounts or block access that does these things, without notice.

Run your own

g-sho is open source, under the MIT license. If this site goes away, or you'd rather not depend on it, you can run your own copy: the code is on GitHub. The dictionary data comes from other projects, under their own licenses; see About & sources.

Changes

These terms may change. The current version is always on this page. If you keep using g-sho after a change, the new terms apply.
